About Consort
Consort is a privately-owned manufacturing company which specialises in vacuum forming and customised casing. Based in Waterford, Ireland in a state-of-the-art 80,000 sq. ft. facility, we make thermoformed plastic components, from high-speed thin gauge packaging to large heavy gauge products. We also manufacture customised carrying cases and foam conversion products to fulfil a wide range of packaging requirements. Established in 1972, we are a second-generation family business with a loyal workforce and client base. Our principles are those of hard work and honesty. We love what we do and we’re good at it.
Our History
- 1972: Consort was established in Enfield, North London, England
- 1979: John Kimpton set up an Irish site to supply the Irish market and supplement the UK
- 1988: John Kimpton took full ownership of Irish business
- 1990 – 2008: Steady turnover of between €1m and €1.5m per annum
- 2008 – 2013: Recession hit but we saw a dramatic increase in gold detector products that kept us afloat
- 2013: Consort secured a large contract with Intel, beating competition from multiple US companies that were already pre-approved
- 2014: €500k investment into the company including new state of the art thermoforming machine Geiss T8
- 2015: Achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification
- 2016: Secured another large contract for Intel to design and implement their next generation of parts clean cases for the global sites
- 2017: €750k investment, purchased 40,000 sq. ft. facility in Waterford, and high-speed forming machine TFT FCS720
- 2018: Secured several new contracts, including KCI
- 2022: Moved into new factory
- 2023: Purchased three new machines to increase production capacity and established two new work cells to create a cleaner and safer work environment
Quality & Safety
- We are fully compliant with ISO9001:2015
- We practice basic lean manufacturing standards.
- We have validation procedures in place for tooling and machine process testing, including pFMEA’s, IQ, OQ, PQ’s.
- We offer a certificate of conformance on all dispatched goods.
- We inspect and update all safety aspects of our machines and facilities, as required by the insurance inspectors.
- We have pest control contracts in place.
We issue safety statements to all employees and review them annually or when deemed necessary.
Sustainability
We are very mindful of our role in society and do our best to mitigate our environmental impact and improve our energy efficiency.
- We use as little packaging as possible and recycle over 95% of all our waste
- We use as little energy as possible by investing in highly efficient machinery and LED lighting
- We use as little unrecycled material as possible and ensure all our products are recyclable
- We comply fully with all environmental legislation, not just in word, but in spirit.
